  • I was taught to sing gregorian music by Paul Koch, and his son and I were in the same class at St. Paul Cathedral grade school. Those were wonderful times with his music. He had a great deal to do with my early love affair with the Catholic Faith. Ann Hyde

  • I sang in the St. Paul Cathedral Choir when Paul Koch was the organist and director. The music program was extraordinary and we had nearly 80 voices. We sang Anerio, Palestrina, Victoria, Mozart, Schubert to name a few. Now that beautiful music just sits on the shelves and collects dust. Why there can't be a better blend of old and new is beyond me.. Father Chepponis writes some of the better modern music. But, why can't we hear the great music from our past at Mass...like in Europe? It's sad.

  • I was recently just there on Sunday for the 12pm Mass....it was an awesome Mass.

  • Hello Robertgift:

I did once meet the great Paul Koch! He was my hero when I was a kid. His musicianship is still not appreciated as much as it should be. He was a profound musician and sweet soul. I was actually at Mass in the awesome Saint Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh in July 1999 when his death was announced at the very end of the service. I went to his funeral the following Wednesday. What a great, dear man.

  • wow so he also wrote this one? i could kinda tell just by the style of it but wasn't sure.

  • Actually, this isn't Chepponis' Festival Alleluia, but instead one of his others.

  • "only like 14"?

You need to improve your writing, C-boy.

But the got the whole organ taken apart and cleaned and refirbished... i haven't played it yet but the pictures are amazing it look brand new... Taylor and boody organ builders did it... and wow wat a job!

  • Did you ever meet my uncle, Paul Koch?
