  • Soaking your seeds and nuts with water about 2-3 inches above them for 2-4 hours will crack open the enzyme inhibitor . which in return will allow you to gain all of its nutrients :) Since this vid I have sprouted all kinds of things and even wheat to grow my own wheat grass successfully! next Im sprouting and growing sunflower seed sprouts. Yum!

  • Just to clear up the title of this Vid. As far as sprouting sunflower seeds, I was a newby when I made this video. i was just starting out with raw foods and heard that you should sprout all of your nuts and seed before eating them. So I confused soaking your nuts and seeds with sprouting things like lentils and buckwheat, where the end result is a serious tail and the creation of real sprouted food.

  • Thanks for the video . I enjoyed it and was glad I read the part about keeping it at a good angle to drain that part was not in the video or I missed. I have only ever sprouted once before but I went raw over the summer and have found it hard to stay in the raw. I am hoping by always having sprouts on hand I will find recipes that will make it easy to feed my family so we can all stay raw. Thanks for your help with that.

  • @dprinzi Im glad I can help. I can relate, its been very hard staying completely raw for me as well. I concider myself a raw foodist but I do eat some cooked things and at times do add some small amounts of poultry. But I leave out the red meat and all the white stuff like flour and suger. Its true what they say, its not what you eat so much as it is what you dont eat. I try to live by that : ) All the best!

  • Hey thanks, yeh it really helps when youre starting out, seems like such a mystery.

Do get your sprowtees from a bulk bin at a food store? - like the stuff that folks usually cook? or does it really have to be seeds?

im at the moment soaking some oat groats and lentils - at the same time im figuring out what to do, can always grind them up if it doesnt work out, shouldnt be too bad.

  • @3vezda Hi, Yes I usually just buy bulk organic from whole foods of natural food store. It will al work just do what you can afford : ) Thanks for leaving a comment!

  • Bill Murray! Bill Fu&*king Murray ! great video man! i can't wait till my lentils are ready to be eaten.

  • Now, how did these sunflower sprouts come out without soil. Im going to do an experiment.
