Don't you kind of feel sorry for his guitar? lol he seems to just wring the tone out of his axe. btw, I saw both SRV and Danny Gatton and Gatton was unreal. They were both amazing. I walked up to Gatton after a set at the Grog and Tankard in DC when I was about 18 and I asked him why he used the little teardrop jazz picks. He said they forced him to be more accurate. I played with those picks for the next 17 years lol : ) He also signed a matchbook for me : )

@ttrelph Its called being moving by a musician who remained true to himself by only playing what moved him too............there are few musician if any in the mainstream of today that are so moved by what they play that it moves others....
Stevie reminds me of Jaco Pastorius.......music screamed out of his soul and he wasn't afraid to express that in whatever manner possible through his instrument...
Ultimately SRV's choice of music to play was because it was an extension of his soul

Mayer is a textbook guitarist! YOU TOO could play as Mayer does if you studied as Mayer did, was provided with all of the best equipment and tutors! But Vaughn didn't have those luxuries. What he had was Christopher Cross's old Strat, and raw talent, pure soulful emotion, and a passion for his guitar! SRV compared to Mayer is like Blue Ray to Beta Tape. Not even in the same category!!!!
