M42 is the under 2 litre developed for rally detuned for the street. Mine is going on 250,000 remains sealed tight, never fails, delivers power smoothly and effortlessly and is freaking wild above 3500rpm. The dual mass flywheel gives it a new life when the oxygen is pumping in at high revs. Becomes a beast. And burns as much fuel and makes as much power as any sane sports car driver needs. Stock. its kinda funny u think i drive around in a hyundai when i have 2 E30s an E36 and an E46 M3

also in my E30 318is im droppin an M52B28 with a S50 crank and s50 cams with s38 injectors and a 540i MAF and also gettting a custom active autowerkes tune which will put me sumwhere around 245-250 WHP on their roller dyno

oh yea the crank makes it a 2.9 stroker with 11.5:1 compression ratio :D

You're right in the sense that the block of the S14 is based on the M10. I will admit that. What I meant was that the cylinder head is based on the M88.

And you're wrong about the age of the M88. It first appeared in the M1. So that's probably around 1979 or so. How do I know? I have an M88/3 in my E24 M635csi. So before you go abusing me like a spoilt little cunt maybe you should brush up on your own historical facts.
