  • What a lovely playing of this serene piece ! Many thanks !!

Fantastic how you "discover" these forgotten composers.

Has the question of which composer ( Kuhnel or Johan Michael ) been resolved. Not that it is very important but still nice to know .

  • 'Thanks for listening again! The composer question would need lots of research....

  • This is not August Kühnel, but the later Johann Michael (probably the son or some other such relative). Just to clarify....

Nice playing, though! Always a striking combination of instruments, lute and viol together.

  • could be, I only have the facsimile page with the largo, without the composer's name. I should have to ask Trond for this...thanks

  • Really beautiful song! and the best combination here to interpretate it!

    thanks

  • one question .August Kuhnel was protestant?he was of amsterdam, thanks beautiful piece.

  • Yes, this is Johann Michael, his nephew!

Real beautiful piece and delightful playing!

  • Yes indeed! a nice discovery!

  • Anyway, Baroque music is such a vast estate, there is always something to learn... Yesterday, I discovered an awesome composer who died too young, Nicolaus Brühns (his church cantatas are gorgeous). And today, August Kühnel, thanks to you and Trond... More tomorrow, I guess. ;)
