@mistersmith6000 americans always was the one to have a full size car..i will bet money was the deciding factor and fuel prices on what cars other country's got , but you guys made a high performance model out of what you had ..in the states the falcon was a small econo car here and i guess ford did not want to take the spot light off the mustang when it came out so the falcon stayed as a econo car

@390merc65 It's got me puzzled too. Not only did we get the old models, we got the budget 'second car' types (the compacts) and yet marketed to them to ourselves as the full sized ' family sedan/wagon' , as if they were the top of the line marques. the Valiant, the Falcon etc. I remember seeing American cars and laughing, scoffing at their bloated size - "yank-tanks". Later, when I realized Detroit were flogging us their old little shopping cars, i was a like ...oh...

Nice-looking car. Love that cheesy host in this commercial.

@fractalign yes i know about mad max...you guys even had somewhat different engines then we had,,..you are the second person to tell me about having a hard top over there...i just never seen one in your country ,,,some of the ford trucks used in mad max look to be all american except they are changed to right hand drive ..your newer 72 fords look alot like the american torino of 70 and 71,..cool stuff

just for the record Ford Australia introduced the 2 hardtop coupe in 1964 ,the same year this add came out ! They ran from the XM to the XP of 1966 then stopped making them.
In 1972 Ford Australia reintroduced the 2 door pillarless coupe in the XB and ran them up until 1978
with the XC Cobra being the final model. These were in my opinion the best looking Falcons ever made. If you are wondering what the look like check out Mad Max The Road Warrior It is called the V8 intercepter.

@Conniptions886 oh they did?..i guess i never seen them ..it amazes me how basically the same car is changed for different country's ...i was looking at ford cortina's ..and to me they look like an american maverick basically., but they dont have the shock towers like the american maverick ..thanks for the heads up
i wonder why other countrys seemed to lag behind the american counter part..america used this body style untill 63 ..and other countrys only seemed to get the 4 door sedan of the similar american car..they never got the 2 door hard tops or converts , and is it Brazil or Argentina that had the ford landdau for many years and all it was , was a 66 ford galaxie 4 door sedan and also powered by the old y block and this ran till 81 i think it was

@390merc65 - Australia got the hardtops, but not the two-door sedans or convertibles...

It looks like the Argentinian 1963 Falcon. The front is a bit different. Here the car was imported in 1962 and adapted to the tough Argentinian roads. Most of the roads here in that time were made of mud, sand, dirt and very little asphalt roads.
The manufacturing of the car started here in 1962/ 63 and ceased in 1991.

@jeanmarcARG - It's based on more or less the same platform, with a different front and rear; if you watch the ad, and pay attention to all the shots of the rear, you'll see that the Australian car's tail-lights are higher...

'64 Falcon in Australia, same as a '62 Falcon in the USA.

@4thstooge - No, the front and rear sheet-metal were Australia-only, along with a heavy-duty clutch, and much stronger suspension. The US mechnicals couldn't handle the rough Australian roads...
