i remember trying to find these masters when i did voice-overs for KWWL (i was working at KFMW at the time). talk about trying to extract hen's teeth!

KFMW... I miss the 'Get's me up" jingle. Last time I heard that jingle... it was on WLOL in Minneapolis.

Cool video, great Aeriel shots, really like the ones of the Basilica in Dyesrsville. KWWL really was the top station back then. Not sure if they still are, as I don't live there anymore.

The first of these promos - was it used as a news outro, or maybe pre-signoff? It seems a little odd as a standalone promo.

yeah, skyview, i would have never thought of the name, my mom and dad took me and my cousin there one nite and the exercist was playing, don't ask me why they did that, i pissed my dads cadillac seats up that nite i was so scared, lol

im 39, and i grew up down the street from kxel, i remember the drive inn that was i believe across the street, back in the late 70's and early 80's, good times back then

Sorry... I just realized that you answered my question above... about KWWL radio. I was just a kid when the sale took place. Yep... Clear Channel is big boy on the block now.

It's sad to drive by the old KXEL station on Independence... and see it vacant. Hey... isn't KWLO in there somewhere? I remember when it was KWWL radio... and they would do live broadcasts from a trailer on top of the Blackhawk Broadcasting Company.

KOKZ was our arch nemisis atthe time, and last i knew, Cy now owns KFWM too, and KOKZ, KFMW, KXEL all broadcast out of the TINY studios on jefferson street

I have those jingles! every one of them. theirs and KWLO. KFMW / KWLO used to be KWWL FM and AM respectively. they were sold off when the FCC mandated that you could not own more than one media outlet in the same market (my how times have changed. clear channel has their hand in everything now). The "Get me Up!" jingles were sung by the lead singer of katrina and the Waves, ironically, i think they were based out of Minneapolis. i always like the KOKZ jingles.
