There is no evidence that Richard had Conrad killed you dumbass. Good lord, the level of ignorance displayed in this video is staggering.

@baraks It would have been a complete disaster for Islam. Jerusalem would have been restored to Christendom. Probably Damascus and Aleppo would have gone down. Frederick's army was massive. It would've been great!

The idea that Saladin actually stirred tension between Guy and Raymond of Tripoli is outdated nonsense. The latest scholarship shows that while there was some rivalry among various Crusader lords, when push came to shove they were united in their stand against Islam.

This video is complete crap. Watch my videos about the Third Crusade, they are infinitely better. The Third Crusade was a magnificent victory for Christendom which reversed most of Saladin's conquests and insured the survival of wealthy Crusader settlements on the coast of Palestine and Cyprus.

@rachaelroo - this video is garbage and you're a Useful idiot for believing it.

some people may not like this but assassins creed is what got me interested in the third crusade

Chronologically ordered and well explained points but many many poor mistakes regarding historical events, for example Richard did not stand for "election" as King of Jerusalem but backed the previous King of Jerusalem Guy who was his vassal just as Philip I of France backed him vassal, Conrad of Montferrat. It was decided Guy would be king should the city be reclaimed and would rule Acre until his death when Conrad or his children would inherit. One more point it was John not James who was con

"Praise be Salah ad-Din! He has found the strength to stand in defense of our great civilization. Be weary my friends! The Shaytan is everywhere, watching waiting! He tempts us always! Be strong, strong like Salah ad-Din! Curse the Christian king and his army of infidels! They leave suffering in their wake! They say it is a crusade! A crusade for what? Ignorace? Violence? Madness? We must resist! We must push back! Sala-ad Din rides to meet him in order to avenge these acts"

who is your teacher ZVERA?
I'd like to reiterate that most of the research done for this was required to be from primary sources by my teacher, thus more modern interpretations are lacking. Ibn Shaeddad's "The Life of Saladin" stated the Marquis was killed by assassins sent by Richard. Moreover, Richard had reasons to do this, as he wished to be king of Jerusalem but lost the election to the marquis. Truly this could be French/Muslim propaganda, but it had to be stated as a quick fact, the project had a limit of 10 mins.

Saladin could not fight off the Crusader forces at Acre although he did harass them during the three year siege. That is why he decided to surrender Acre and stall the Crusaders for thirty days with the pretense he would give them the true cross. I could have sworn that the Itinerarium Regis Ricardi gave his brother's name as James, but it is a minor flaw, point being is Richard had to return to assert his own domains as his brother and Phillip conspired against him.
