Worlds largest animal undulates in the tide

A pregnant blue whale that washed up on a San Mateo County beach over the weekend likely died after colliding with a large ship, an official with the California Academy of Sciences said Thursday. Scientists examined the 75-ton, 80-foot whale Wednesday afternoon on Bean Hollow State Beach near Pescadero and found hemorrhaging on its belly and at least three fractured vertebrae, according to Academy spokesman Andrew Ng.
