  • ok huge question, im an aspiring basso profundo, im in school still, and like i sing very deep, but not nearly as deep as these guys, i sing with my throat, and when i go to deep for a long time afterward i notice soreness in my throat, what is the technique they use? why do i have the pain, and how do i stop it, what is the correct technique?

  • as you know there is the diaframatic breathing and it is used for control the breath,

  • but for sing more easy the are also the costal breathing and you should see and touching your side pump and you have alway to control that...anyway the bass profondo use to breath really really deep and with a lots of costal breath.

  • you should feel the resonance in the back part of the palate and on the back of the neck...(looking from the extern) and the larynx have to be down but not forced cz if you push it down you will have a close sound anyway expalne all this with the chat is impossible but remember the most important thing is not force and clean sound

  • For the record, this isn't strohbass.

  • why not ? they go down to the low c maybe more with this power

  • That is a terrifying yet holy voice, if I entered a church & heard that voice enchanting I will confess for all that I have done and all that I haven't done. hehe

  • @etwade there in the bass range though even a low G is classed as Bass

  • @hpnimbles unless you're a smoker.

  • Oh my god... That is simply amazing.

  • wait for you voice to develop.

your not a full adult male.

so how can you expect to hit the notes with a teenage voice?

    Just keep practicing.

If Your straining your probably singing with your throat muscles and

not really your body. which is how it should be.

Just practice scales all the time.

The technique they use is called years of practice.

dont expect to come out of the fetus knowing how to do this kind of stuff.

  • I've heard so many versions of this song.. which one is this? Is this by The Orthodox Singers, directed by Georgiy Smirnoff? That's the only one I've been able to buy.

  • Title of the Prayer gives us a big clue: "Old Age" brings the Basso to Profundo!

  • What is he talking about? These are oktavists-specially trained basso profondos who sing about a 5th below the standard bass range. I don't believe his argument at all. To prove this, let me use the bass part of the Vespers by Rachmaninov, as it ranges from Bb1 to F4. Now, why would Rachmaninov bother to write such a wide-ranged vocal part if he thought that singing like this would harm your voice? Besides, it's more dangerous to sing too high than to sing too low.

  • But timbre and voice color get darker with age-it's a give-and-take relationship.
