  • lepti looks weird

  • why has it been secretly studied?

  • So basically, this fossil was from a lineage of lemurs that gave rise to the apes that could walk upright, hence- US!!

  • The 47 million year old fossil of a lemur [a primate] which has evolved a bone in each of its two back feet for upright standing and moving proves that all higher primates evolved from some lemurs who evolved this adaptation [because not all lemurs at that time did evolve this, as today's lemurs still lack this bone]. Thus, all chimpanzees, gorillas, orang-u-tans, australapithecus, homo sapiens evolved from it. And, note the NON-webbed lower teeth of this fossil, because standard lemurs lack it.

  • suck it creationists

  • Sorry I correct. After some lawless years of pillaging - due to the extraordinary fossils -the pit was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995, the only place to be placed on the list exclusively due to fossils

  • Hang on! You might disapprove of amateur fossil hunters and international fossil business. I aggree but the situation is worst then that. In 1983 the Messel pit had been closed to amateur fossil hunters in preparation for using the site as a landfill.

  • cool
