This is the carrier that I make to carry bikes. It fits into a standard square hitch type tow bar (Hayman Reece). Does away with trailers, no rego, easy to store, no tie downs.

  • A mate tried the same thing and it fishtailed like crazy at anything over 50km/hr

  • @Nullakern66 It all has to do with the balance of the trailer and draw bar length. This thing sat like a rock at 110-120 km/hr.

  • We are looking to do something very similar to this to carry 1 x 250 and 1 x 125cc bikes...but have been told that if we were to put them both at the front on the drawbar they are too heavy for the cars tow bar? We have a 97 long wheel base pajero..and have been put off because of this. Your set up looks awesome! Any tips?

  • @ladybeetle1972 the quad bike weighed about 180kg and the and my tow bar was rated at 250kg downward pressure if I remember right. it is definetly something that needs to be worked out especially for insurance purposes.

  • Hey fella, what does the bike weigh and how does it affect the balance of the trailer? I'm trying to work out how I can transport my DR650 with the camper.

It's a great solution that I had thought about but figured it would alter the weight distribution a lot.

    Cheers

    Pete

  • @jugglingogre from memory the bike weighed about 125kg but I had a 180kg quad on the draw bar so was all good.

  • @michealmannion Thanks Mick, he loaded an XR650R on a Ballards rake at the back of a camper box trailer . I have no idea of the loading of the trailer

  • What brand is the carrier

  • Very good idea sir! Ingenuity in action. Nice work!

  • I have a haymen reece towbar off one of my eb falcon wagons that i will fit up to camper. Then i will make the bit that the bike fits onto. Then just slide it in and out when i need to use it.
