An extremely conscientious shellfisherman alerted Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary that a diamondback terrapin had become uncovered from brumation in Chipman's Cove this afternoon. Female Terrapin #2102 was rescued from the cove and near certain death in a cold-stunned condition. She had previously been documented at her nesting site on Lieutenant Island 4.5 miles to the south in June 2008 and in Chipman's Cove in spring 2006.
