This song was written and originally recorded 1966 by Tommy Roe, best known for his number one hits "Sheila"(1962) and "Dizzy"(1969). I decided to do this song because an unbelievably large number of ukulele youtubers have been posting videos of a song with the same title, by someone named "Amos Lee". Everytime I watch one of these video I am instantly disappointed to discover that its not a cover of the Tommy Roe song.

Vocally I found this song challenging because there are 2 key changes (3 different keys total), and normally I have enough trouble finding one key that works for my voice.

Earlier this week I picked up a new set of strings for my baritone ukulele. Although this is my first video that features baritone ukulele I have actually had the instrument for many many years, and it was the first stringed instrument I ever learned. However, after getting my first guitar I lost interest in the old baritone uke, and removed many of it's parts attempting to invent new stringed instruments. Now, about 5 years later I've finally managed to gather back together all of the parts and can finally use my baritone uke again.

  • glad you got the baritone fixed -- it needs more representation here on youtube!

For the record, this is the Sweet Pea song I know. What a blast from the past :-)

  • lol awesome! It's great to see other members of the younger generation appreciating the great music of the 50's/60's!!!

I really should try to include my Bari in some more videos.

  • Good stuff. I like the way you are singing baritone while playing the Soprano Uke, but singing soprano while playing the Baritone Uke.

  • Excellent. Enjoyed very much.

  • Love it...well done!
