SHUTTLE DISCOVERYS EXTERNAL FUEL TANK FOR MARCH LAUNCH ARRIVES IN FLORIDA -KSC
The external fuel tank for space shuttle Discovery's STS-131 mission to the International Space Station arrived at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Dec. 26, 2009, for launch preparations. The external tank remained inside its transport barge, Pegasus, at Kennedys Turn Basin through the holidays. The tank was taken off its barge and moved into the Vehicle Assembly Building on Jan. 5. The tank was then ifted into a checkout cell in the VAB to begin preparations for launch.
Before the shuttle rolls to its launch pad, the tank and twin solid rocket boosters will be attached
to Discoverys for its targeted March 18 liftoff.
