Laura Love and Harpers Ferry (Orville Johnson and Tory Trujillo) perform Cotton Eyed Joe and Ruby at their January 25, 2008 performance at the Bainbridge Island Center Hall in Washington State.
Every cut's a winner, but the title track & "Aha Me a Riddle I Day," both her own songs, have the kind of perfection folk music normally reaches only after being passed down for generations.
She's a great performer -- but as a songwriter, a stone genius.
I don't know if she's not more widely known bcs her record co's didn't promote her (back when they had $), or bcs her styles (many) make her uncategorizable.
What George said, & then some.
Her album "Shum Ticky" is phenomenal.

Awesome music! Laura Love has an awesome and plays an awesome bass. For some reason, I can see that she's playing bass, but I can't hear the bass.

Laura Love should, by all rights, be a huge name in music. "Octoroon" is an amazing album. I hope America gets a clue, she is a serious talent
