  • Thank you soooooooo much for uploading this precious video. Where did you find this? I have been looking for it for so long time. Because Toru Okamoto, the 7the world champion got away from IKO after this tournament, went back to Kyokushin-Kaikan (Matsui-sect), and now belong to Kyokushin-Rengo, Shin-Kyokushinkai does not sell this.

  • @kazuhiro1027 Glad you like it. The final 8 (the quarter finals and on) was broadcasted on the eurosport TV channel at the time, and I recorded it on a VHS. Later I transferred it to a PC in a mpg file that since then have found its way to a few internet fileshare networks.

The reason that shinkyokushin do not sell it now is that it was before the namechange, and under just the name "kyokushin" it falls right back into the copyright chaos & legal mess that is kyokushin in Japan

  • The goal is to get a knockout or two short knockdowns. However since that wont happen in every fight, the judges can also give the win my majority decision to a fighter that has been clearly dominating the fight.

Usually this only happens after several extension rounds has been fought without knockdowns. If the judges still cant decide, it may be decided by who broke the most tiles in the breaking segment, or who is the lightest fighter (by atleast 10 kg) if it is a openweight category fight.
