Was the locomotive a Beyer Garratt or a Union Garratt? I cant see the articulation of the aft engine wheelset. Beyer Garratts are articulated fore and aft, while Union Garratts are articulated only on the forward engine wheelset. It was nice to see such a tiny engine on a 2' railroad, and the filming was nicely done too!

How far away is this place from Cape Town?

very interesting Its my understanding that we will see these 2 foot gauge garrets and have a few ao the larger garrets pulling us on rovos rail it will be interesting to see

i think they should work that loco in other words put a full length train on it, go to the Welsh Highland and see what 143 and 138 haul up similar grades and you'll see what i'm talking about!

Garretts fascinate me. All the videos are great but I love the sound on the last clip. What a beat.

Whether climbing up Welsh mountains or crossing African plains, I'm sure the garrats will still be doing what they were built to do. Brilliant clips!
Not long enough Mr. Easton! Articulated locos in their natural habitat. Compared with this what the Snowdonia National Park will throw at them will be a cake walk. The vintage bus was noted as well. Lovely video (Parts 1 & 2).
