Me attempting to play Eruption from the album Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. One of the greatest progressive rock keyboard pieces ever written! Notice that I DO NOT resolve the suspended chord to G major. The original recording does not resolve. I think that to resolve it sounds tacky as all hell!

  • Absolutely brilliant! So well played and I agree one of the greatest progressive rock keyboard pieces ever written. It still sounds fresh and exciting after all this time. And the sound is great too! Can I ask what keyboard you are using? I am tempted to purchase a Yamaha MOTIF XF but only if it can recreate the classic ELP organ sound. Any advice on what to buy?

    Thanks..

  • @bioshock2000 Thanks so much! I'm using a Yamaha S90-ES on this video. I actually bought some downloadable patches from an ES/Motif site with some extra organ sounds and layered them, because on the ES, as well as the Motif you can layer up to 4 sounds. I would highly recommend buying an XF Motif, they are incredible, and if Chick Corea owns it, it has to be great! If you want to spend less money and get a great organ sound though, get the Clavia Nord Electro 3.

  • @VladtheEmailer .....continued....The nord sounds better than the Hammond XK models made by Hammond! In my opinion, Yamaha really makes the best keyboards out there today.

  • Really very nicely played! You have some serious chops! Greatly enjoyed listening to this. How's about some more??

  • @12stringbabe Hi! Thanks so much! You are really being too kind! It's so difficult having a life and trying to practice. :-( I figured for my mid-life crisis project I would learn all of my favorite solos. I'm working on Green Eyed Lady now, the original from the 70's. It's a definite killer solo. Hopefully within the next few months I'll be posting it.

  • Absolutely stunning! You nailed it. Wish we lived closer. Would love to play this tune with a *real* musician!

  • @audiophile55 Thanks so much!! I bow to you sir!! Excellent drummer!
