  • Ukrainian style? By who'se definition? Not mine. =Stefan=

  • Perhaps not by yours, but I think the audiences in Texas love it. The Ukrainian community there is small, but very proud of its heritage and new home.

  • Come to Rural Alberta and see this style at every zabava , where do you think the term farmer polka came from..just ask Mickey and Bunny and others who brought the half na piv ,farmer style to the forefront there bare Ukies all over the wold who put their own interpretations into their dance, their Ukrainian roots are the strogest and thats what this group shows

  • It looks like a combo Barn Dance with Kazachok thrown in for good measure.LOL!Could call it a Barn Kolomeyka!

This is going to happen as cultures intermingle .As long as we don't forget the original/traditional roots this style of cross-cultural dance will be of interest. Mind you, as I am Australian born, having a hopak carroboree performed might be hard to take. The mind boggles!! Shabli v Boomarang.Ha!

  • Hey salo, sorry I offended you. But here's the funny part. I am 100% Ukrainian. My wife is from Texas, Fort Worth, to be exact. Strange how things work out. Have a Happy New Year!!! =Stefan=

  • it's not supposed to be a traditional dance by all means. it's a combination of ukrainian dancing and country dancing from america. the dance shows the unity and merging of these two great cultures...i hope that clears up any confusion you have about the dance...PROUD TO BE PART UKRAINIAN,TEXAN AND NATIVE AMERICAN!

  • No, sorry , don't see it. Maybe at the end, when the men do the "twists", close, but no bannana. =Stefan=
