[Please read] He's got a license to jinx everything but the economy. Bowl-haired boy "brat" also has an eye for talent and four eyes for "reviewing the situation."

A "two-act-play" video (with intermission) featuring then child actor (and now accomplished voice actor) Robbie Rist as "Cousin Oliver" in the 1973/74 Season Five of THE BRADY BUNCH.

Your video uploader can already feel the painful effects of viewer voodoo. My choice of video subject has no doubt earned my doll effigy a porcupine covering of poisonous pins. However, my belief that the humor associated with Oliver is more likely to yield laughter than loathing inspires me onward to video submission.

Video dedicated to nonagenarian Sherwood Schwartz, creator and producer of THE BRADY BUNCH, a TV show whose multi-generational appeal seems enduring. Also saluting the show's entire cast and crew. Also hoping Robbie Rist will—-if ever-—regard this video with as much amusement and as little bemusement as possible.

PLEASE KNOW: In this video, I have incorporated and adapted the wonderful work of many talented professionals. If any one of you has any legitimate beefs about my use of your material in this video, PLEASE send ME a private message and communicate your wishes. I want to keep you as happy as your work has made me feel. Please consider this, too: my video was composed fondly in a spirit of great fun and with considerable care. I intended it to be a strictly non-commercial, complimentary, harmless and comic "variety show. As a secondary consequence of its upload, this YouTube video will hopefully stimulate greater interest in and sales of THE BRADY BUNCH on DVD. 'Nuff said.

Ideal viewer reaction: "Please, sir, I want some more."

Thanks for viewing.

  • Little John Denver. lol

  • Nice catch, removetube.

  • Nonsense. Jan's undamaged painting would've sold for a hundred thousand dollars in today's discriminating market for art----and double that for Oliver's contribution (especially if he co-signed the canvas).

  • Great Montage! I showed it to Robbie and he put it on his facebook.

  • Thanks. See his comment above.

  • ...and it's ticking away with my sanity.

  • @Jefgg SHOOT! That's the 2nd comment someone beat me to! (see @removetube)

  • Alot of old shows made the same mistake like the Brady Bunch series and got their own Cousin Oliver character and paid the price through cancellation like Different Stokes, All in the Family and the Jeffersons to name a few.

  • Not the only show where seeing his name on the credits is a sign of trouble; on Season 9 of the '80s-'90s Ninja Turtles cartoon, he voiced a one-shot character (quite ironic as he voiced Michelangelo in the three live-action movies).

  • 1970s USA TV/film casting idea of what is a cute kid always puzzled us in our house (in the UK).

Anything gap-toothed, round-faced and blonde-to-albino seemed to be the look they went for - that, or some splodge-faced ginger monstrosity like Danny Bonaduce. Or a hybrid like that precocious little git in The Poseidon Adventure.

But the prize goes to Robbie Rist here a few years later in 'Big John Little John'. That flabby, bowl-cut-headed, squinty-eyed little git was the archtypal American brat

  • Oliver really was a jinx. He got the show canceled.

  • @vaibanez17 for sure!

  • @collegeman1988 it's his son, oliver denver...

  • @removetube He as brought in because he looked like John Denver, who was a big pop star at the time.

  • I'm convinced that John Denver WAS Cousin Oliver.

  • Ya know, that little cartoon sonofabitch during intermission was just as bad as Oliver. Both should be sentenced to watch videos of themselves for the remainder of their pathetic lives.
