The Atari ST game Sapiens has three midi options, one 3 part multitimbral for Casio CZ keyboards and one 3 part multitimbral for generec midi devices (you choose your own sound to play on the three channels) and the third option is generic monotimbral midi devices.
The Yamaha DX7 was mention as example of monotimbral synth in the game so i recorded the third option using my MU1000 with DX plugin card for DX7 sounds... i added no reverb or such that is MU1000 specific... just pure FM sounds of the DX ("SyntiBrs" with some edit by me).

It sounds ok for music that play using only one instrument (monotimbral) :-)

Music by Gilles Soulet.
Sapiens was released by Loriciel in 1987.

  • I always loved to launch sapiens just to listen the 2nd music. (starting at 5:50)

Despite the original being far from that crisp, i still prefer it. The bassline was just insane. Great vid.
