Love the videos and keep up the speed, as far as track speed goes - I love it - they are probably doing in the area of 70 mph , which is a respectable speed for a revenue minded railroad - otherwise if you want to look at the train and equipment show them parked in the yard or a siding. ( the one thing most modelers don't realize is that you very seldom, if ever, need to clean the rail with a big train making track speed.)

Wow! I'm in Portland, and with my own humble home layout, I model mainly SP&S, especially the Spokane-Portland section of the Empire builder. Your scenery is awfully inspiring, and you've really given me something to shoot for! Thanks for sharing that video!

In any event, not to outshine my main point - I praise your layout and your workmanship. Its the best I've seen in 250 or so videos I've watched (excluding a huge German layout).

It is of course, your video, and this is a question of style and there is no one right answer. In my opinion, there is no need to get the entire train's passage at each camera station. It is a good thing to sacrifice train speed for video resolution. If you see my videos, also shot w/still cam, the effect is more realistic if you slow the trains down. I make this suggestion because you have such a great modeler, have a great layout, and sound like you may be receptive to consider it.
Your layout is gorgeous, the trackwork is impeccable. The scenery is first rate. The rock work is so realistic. Proper color usage and textures are also excellent. The sweeping curves and generous use of land for each scene shows good planning and execution.
My only suggestion is that you slow down your trains in your next video for realism. These look like they were moving at 150 to 225 scale mph. Also we can appreciate your rolling models better that way.

Thank you for the complements. As for the speed, I shot this with the video function of my digital still camera, which only takes 30 second clips on the highest quality setting, so the trains have to be going fast enough to fit in the time. The freight, which had to be long enough to seem worthy of four units, barely made it. Also, I've noticed that the camera always seems to make the trains look faster than they are. By my calculations, they were going about 55 scale miles per hour.
