Yeah, reallly, really bad gameplay for a Tales game. I really enjoyed the story, though (the main part, not the character quests). I thought the pacing and development was done really well.

I actually put this game on my chrismas list one year but never got it.

I judged this game by it's cover, literally..and suspected that it wasn't going to be as good as the other Tales games. This was about 3 some years ago. So my original assumption is true after all, huh? Well I suppose I'll play it anyway for the sake of having another Tales game on my belt.

Perhaps the "close to the end" part is the main story and not the CQ's?

Like snoozysam said, the story, music, and characters are great, but the gameplay doesn't hold a candle to the rest of the games in the series. The gameplay probably seems okay if you haven't played any other games in the series, but it's pretty subpar by Tales standards. The thing that drove me crazy in this game was the random encounters and how nothing is voiced in the last half of the game.

Where exactly are you in this game? I remember this game taking at least 50 hours for me.

wait a sec, i am already close to the end an i dont even have 30 HOURS. I heard the game wasnt as good as the other TALES. i didnt think it was bad @ all. actually this game is my Debut to the series

Story was great. Main cast rocked. Music was awesome. But the gameplay... -shiver- The reason why it's a 70 hour game is because they make it slow on purpose. o_O

I mean, I appreciate them trying the thing to go back to the basics and recreate it (ToDR, anyone?) but it just wasn't done quite well.
