Twenty Brookshire Brothers locations in East Texas are participating in the East Texas Food Bank food drive to allow their "shoppers to help...and make a difference", according to Emily Watts from Brookshire Brothers.
"Shoppers can pick up a $7 bag or a $12 bag of items that have been specifically picked out that are high in protein...and can be run easily right through the register," Watts said.
"We've had a very busy summer and distributed a lot of food through various programs," Dennis Cullinane Executive Director of the East Texas Food bank said. "Our inventory has been really depleted, and it's really important to get more products like this, particularly the canned vegetables and the peanut butter."
The drive will continue through the end of September. You can pick up a pre-made bag of items at any participating Brookshire's, Super 1 Food, or Brookshire Brothers locations in East Texas. Also, Brookshire's has $1 and $5 scan coupons which can be requested at checkout. Donations may also be made via www.easttexasfoodbank.org.
