Britain is chokablok with sacred sites. Two great traditions that stand out are the standing stones of our prehistoric megalithics, and our beautiful cathedrals. Most famous of these are Stonehenge and Glastonbury Cathedral but what raised them above the rest? And why, in a secular Britain, are they still special to us?

  • Great video. I too like it so much.

  • just brilliant

  • What do you get if you follow the url at the end? Another copy of the same video!

If I had stated all the stuff on this video in an essay for the OU, without citing references for all the sweeping assertions, I would have got my arse royally kicked. And quite right too!

  • @computernerdiam

    ROFLMAO

  • Fantastic video, there are places I had never seen or heard of before

  • @ChunLi3

no they dont, some dont even have a concept of god(s) or a creation story or an after life. you pulled that out your arse.

hel (the word) is taken from norse mythology, and isnt a punishment or a bad place in that tradition any more than valhalla is

  • @ThomasRowsell because heaven and hell are not just christian inventions. All cultures all over the world have some concept of heaven and hell. don't believe me look into Buddhism and Shinto, and Greek mythology.

  • Maybe building that road way isnt a good idea because driving towards sunlight sucks

  • Fail.

  • @TeamXtremeUK

this is part of the open university they make programmes for TV so at a guess i would say this was made for the BBC by a television company ;)
