ARC's CEO Carl Schlachte, in his keynote address before a sold out ConfigCon™ Silicon Valley 2007 developer conference, said silicon today can only command value if it contributes directly to a compelling consumer experience. "Consumers want their content anywhere, any time and on any device," said the ARC CEO. System-on-chip (SoC) developers must offer solutions to meet the needs of consumer electronics buyers who want to watch and create high quality audio and video content. Adding to the challenge is the necessity of delivering these highly complex devices to meet the narrow market windows characteristic of the consumer electronics industry.
Four other ConfigCon keynotes supported ARC CEO's contention that silicon's value resides in delivering a compelling consumer experience. Intel Architect, Jeffrey Hoffman, described an ARC-Based™ silicon solution that could provide consumers multimedia on any device and any network. Microsoft Taiwan Technology Center Director, Dr. Jason Ta-Kang Ma, provided the best example of a compelling consumer experience by demonstrating Microsoft's new HD Photo technology. Sling Media CTO, Bhupen Shah, echoed the conference theme: consumers want multimedia whenever, wherever and on whatever display. And wireless and consumer electronics drive semiconductor growth declared Cadence Design Systems Corporate Vice President, Aurangzeb Khan's keynote.
