  • @GrannyBX Keep experimenting val.

  • @kinga303 They're using a strobe light.

  • just so people know, the video isnt slowed, its just due to the refresh rate. everything is happening much faster than the camera will pick up, and its scaled down again by your computer screen, and by your eyes. ever been on the freeway and looked at the wheels on the car beside you, or watched a race on tv and seen how the wheels look like there barely moving, sometimes they even look like there going backwards

  • @GrannyBX

    Cancel that I'm stoopid ;)

  • @ValExperimenter

Not slowed down? 8000 rpm means inlet and outlet ports open an close over 130 times per second... Not once every few seconds.

  • @beepandbop The footage has not been slowed down there is a stroboscope on the valve gear giving the appearance that th8ings have slowed down. The lines on the spring (red) may be a manufacturers mark.

  • @chabbalato I think you need to look at some pushrod engines before condemning this. This engine was designed in 1967 with a 7200 rpm redline in mind. It is well past that and valve motion is still fairly well controlled. The rotation of the spring and retainer are normal the surge in the coils and the slight rocking motion of the valve tip are not. The motor was designed to win Le Mans though it was available as street option. I was an endurance motor.

  • @Samsgarden ok not bad, all things considered

  • @chabbalato

I dunno, the thing was built in the 60's based on an FE block meant for OHV; it was basically a short lived race motor to compete against the HEMI. 8000RPM is pretty high for a 7 litre motor. It is what it is.

  • @Samsgarden yes that is apparent now. with such poor control over a sohc rocker assy makes the design even worse. if it was pushrod it would at least have an excuse!
