Yup... Not hating on Paul Potts, but if you want to, put the two versions side by side... just sayin'. And for the record, I think it's awesome when opera can reach a more mainstream audience, and if you look in between his audition and this performance, there's amazing growth.

@bojnoff Basically, if the princess finds out his name she'll kill him because he offered her this stupid deal that ends up getting one of his dad's servants killed because she really loves Calaf and he doesn't love her back, but at this moment, no one knows his name still and after a couple more scenes, the princess stops trying to kill him and falls in love with him... Puccini died before Turandot was finished which is why some people think it just straight doesn't make sense...

You miss the point of opera. This aria has now been heard by millions who otherwise never would have known it existed. Whether they hear opera from an amateur or a professional doesn't matter. Opera is meant to be enjoyed, not to be used as an intellectual cudgel.
