An interactive weighted 3D Voronoi modeler realized in Virtools using CGAL.
Made for my Master's thesis at Hyperbody / Delft UT, a real-time architectural/urban design environment based on a behavioural linkage paradigm.

  • Hi ,

Very interesting.Could u tell us the software u used for the visualisation?

  • Hi there,

i used Virtools for scripting and as game engine. From CGAL i got the weighted Delaunay Triangulation algorithm which i wrapped into Virtools Building Blocks using C++. Then i wrote some more C++ to derive the weighted Voronoi Diagram and its mesh representation.

  • I wrote an article on the technique and its application, "SmartVolumes - Adaptive Voronoi Power Diagramming for Real-Time Volumetric Design Exploration ", published in Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Springer Berlin / Heidelberg, Volume 4820/2008.

  • Very cool!

  • this is insane, Mr. Friedrich.. I was looking up tutorials for 3D Voronoi for GH and came across this.... most righteous!

  • simulating soap membrane?

  • WOW! Could you please tell me how you did this? I want to do some architecture designing with voronoi!

    thanks in advance!

  • Cool..how did you implement the visualization?
