While Linux is running our phones, friend requests, tweets, financial trades, ATMs and more, most of us don't know how it's actually built. This short video takes you inside the process by which the largest collaborative development project in the history of computing is organized. Based on the annual report "Who Writes Linux," this is a powerful and inspiring story of how Linux has become a community-driven phenomenon. More information about Linux and The Linux Foundation can be found at http://www.linuxfoundation.org and http://www.linux.com

Very convincing. I'm totally going to delete the OS I'm currently using and install Windows because of this glorious comment you have posted. Very articulate comment sir, thumbs up to you.

It is not the only thing linux is good at. Linux runs on computers that need security. The military use it because it is fast and the most secure. The world wide web is built on linux, it is powered by it. Linux is everywere; windows only dominates the desktop market, but nothing more. Hackers use linux. An I don't know what you mean by basement dwellers (it clearly shows that you are not taking this seriously). Do you know what was behind Obama's success in the elections? It was ubuntu.

Ubuntu 13.04 or Linux Mint. Both support steam, though there is a small list of games that will run. Check out steam's list of games that are supported on Linux. (TF2, Portal, and the Half Life Trilogy are some). Ubuntu has certain cutbacks on reliability, as its DE is very new. However, Mint is more stable and user friendly for windows users. If you want to see which is best, format a USB, extract the ISO image with unetbootin, and power on your computer to boot it up.

Distrowatch . com tells me that Android is NOT Linux. So strongly, that Distrowatch has banned my submissions of all types to their comments section. See my personal site, gregzeng . com

    Two ways man.

ArchLinux (read about "The Arch Way" on their Wiki to understand what it's all about)

LinuxMint (The most user-friendly of all the distributions IMO)
