The other gimmick I was talking about was how the gameplay changed. Look at the original footage, Raiden's movement was smooth and polished; whereas in this game, he moves so fast that the animation has been dumbed-down. Bosses also look full of quick-time events, which are only fun for so long. The new game looks like some 3D anime title, and while I wasn't expecting a perfect game, I was expecting something worthy of the title "Metal Gear".

By backstory, I was referring to how the original Rising was going to tell us how Raiden became a cyborg. They may do that in cutscenes in Revengance, but that won't be as fun. By gimmick, I meant two things; one is how Raiden went from a serious protagonist to some Dante one-liner douchebag.

3: Try to cram the plot in the middle of a finished storyline

4: Realize it's a dumb idea and cancel it

i dunno, i've never played any of those. i just think this game looks like another button masher with QTE's at the end of every boss fight.

@Fantabanubbus Bayonetta, Vanquish, Madworld, Infinite Space...

All their games are pretty well reviewed. And Vanquish itself was fairly influential in-spite of under-performance in sales.

Some of the best game designers and directors of all time work at platinum.

@stevemcquark lolololol excellent team? what the fuck are you smoking? maybe if they were working on the new god of war they could be called an excellent team. game looks like shit. there's probably even going to be a heavy attack/light attack button system and a combo meter.

and for the record i already had given up on the series, but when they announced a game where you play as raiden i thought it would be cool, and the first gameplay trailer gave me high hopes, but this video ruined them.
