Funny thing is i've always been a street fighter player going to tournies all my life, until i recently found an interest in guilty gear because it looks and plays like classic 1v1 games are supposed to play like. I can't wait!
You can still get out of the corner with the right timing and moves. The guy playing as Testament could have gotten out of the corner a few times if he wanted to by just backing up, instead he chose to try and trap Axl in the corner, but it backfired and got him stuck in the corner some more.
The "Corner trapping problem" isn't nearly as big as in a LOT of other popular 2D fighting games. I personally think trapping someone is just as hard as getting out of it in the Guilty Gear series.
