Tech Goes Home (TGH) is an 11 year old school-based, family broadband education program, recognized by the FCC's National Broadband Plan for excellence in broadband adoption programming as well as being the recipient of Verizon's National Tech Savvy Award. In collaboration with Mayor Menino and Boston Public Schools, TGH has reached thousands of Boston families.
The City of Boston recently adopted the TGH 2.0 Model developed at Lilla G Frederick Pilot Middle School in Grove Hall. This next-generation model has been designed as a wonderful opportunity for families to come to the school, learn some new and exciting technology skills, and purchase a laptop at an incredibly low price. Areas of focus for the training sessions include using an office suite, effective communication techniques, Internet resources for both students and families, and a new section on financial literacy. The family member and student must attend all required training sessions to complete the program.
