The Atheist Experience # 731, 10/16/2011. Rob from New York, NY, believes that the Protestants who rebelled against the Catholic Church were the ones who started the Enlightenment movement and started our industrial society. His argument doesn't get too far before he starts talking nonsense.

I would agree Mormons aren't Christians, since they made up their own new holy book and religious history and their beliefs are hugely different from anything any other Christians have historically believed. However to say Catholics are not is ridiculous. The caller also talks nonsense from the start about the protestants starting the Enlightenment, which is associated with rationalism and - at most - deism or the industrial revolution (wtf did protestantism have to do with that?).

I think the point the host was trying to make is that you can't say, "all religions are false except mine" and not give a good reason as to why you would believe that. By pointing out that part of the christian bible was based off of an older religion (Judaism), and the caller was saying all religions including Judaism is wrong, he was basically saying, "doesn't that make part of the bible false as well".

@AK33M The old testament is not false but when the caller referred to the Christian bible its obvious he meant both old and new testament. The host was just being padantic by forcing a non issue then claiming victory.

The caller says every religion other than that based on the christian bible is false. Then the host goes on to that the first half of the bible is based on judaism. The host is point out that if judaism is wrong, then how is the bible correct.

So now it seems you are saying that the point the host is making is irrelevant because we are in the new testament. Are you saying that the old testament is "false"?

The caller went quiet because the bald guy was stupid. We are now in the New Testament. The Jews were cut off from God for idolatry, they burned their children alive to a demon god "Molech", the origin of the word holocaust.

You have to believe Jesus died on the cross and repent of your sins to be saved.
