Rick Mears = Greatest Of All Time. Retired too early.
-

@weallfollowmanutd I'd remember this was his back up car couldn't remember if crash it in the qualify or broke down. I'd know the next year he wreck in qualifying which he really injured himself.

@xpander2k Very well said....Mears was unbelievable back in the day.
-
@darakii The third car was John Andrett.

@tonip420 : The perfect time would have been at this race. Not after crashing and not finishing the next year after. He retired early because it physically became too demanding on his body with his injuries from the crash in 1984. Had that of never happened he probably would have raced at least another 5-7 years and had probably 6 or 7 INDY 500 wins. As dominate as Penske was in the mid 90s, he would have gotten at least 2 more.

@xpander2k maybe here retired at the perfect time...

who was in the 3rd car that was yellow?
-
@vantalge Yeah of course. He used to be the tv play by play man for the Pacers. That was more to what I was referring.
Look carefully at 45 seconds at Rick Mears outside rear tire. Wheelspin at 220mph. Unreal to watch. Amazing to think the cars use solid rear axles for high speed steering. On the limit racing at its finest. Rick Mears was the greatest speedway racer, no doubt.
