@loiselroy The single main line is upgraded to continuously welded rail and concrete ties, but there's probably a need for a double track the whole route from Chicago the St. Louis before any faster service will be put in. There's most likely a need for new rolling stock for more frequency after that. There are plans for 110mph service to be put into place for segments of the lincoln service route.

From this point north to just south of Coal City Road, a second track will be place this summer. From Dwight north the ties are wood, but were all replaced this past summer. Trains will maintain 79 mph from Chicago to Dwight, and then 110 south of Dwight.
