Glow Worm on Edison Blue Amberol cylinder No. 1807 was recorded in September, 1908. It is played on my Edison Amberola DX cylinder phonograph. Please excuse the skip towards the end. The problem with celluloid cylinders is that they can to shrink over time and cause the stylus to skip grooves. It always seems to happen to my favorites.

  • Yes, this is one of the early 4-minute cylinders, as it was originally released as Amberol No. 61.

  • That's wax Amberol No. 4M-61 to be exact. Edison used wax Amberol masters to press Blue Amberol cylinders from 1912 to 1914. After 1914, Edison decided to cut cost by dubbing Blue Amberol cylinders from Diamond Discs. The Blue Amberols essentially became recordings of recordings and the quality was not always that great.
