Joe's rendition of "Hush" is still my
favorite...the production on these records
was impeccable.

It is very disappointing that Joe South is not included among Rolling Stone Magazine's Lists of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, or the 100 Greatest Singers, or nor are any of his songs included among RS's lists of the 500 Greatest Songs. (See December 2011 issue). Very disappointing, that being a winner of 2 Grammy Awards, that Joe South is not given more recognition.

Joe South's "Games People Play" is one of the finest songs ever written and recorded, IMO.

@nachodaddy My Problem? Can't think of any off hand, but thanks for your concern, I'll let you know when I have one.
-
@CorsairJock I already know all that. What's your problem?
-
@nachodaddy Hush came AFTER down in the Boondocks, and was Billy Joe Royals first hit. Both songs were written by the famous song writer Joe South
-
Holy shit, I never heard this good quality on even the radio

@murphicus Thank you i didn't know that Joe South wrote this great song .

This guy ripped off Deep Purple.

@antdigger "This Guy" wrote the song (and many more that others made famous). Deep Purple covered it.

I'm afraid that you are mistaken on both counts. Joe South write the song and Billy Joe Royal was the one who had a hit with it.
Thanks for playing though...
As for "Hush" Joe South wrote it and Deep Purple had the hit - but Billy Joe Royal also covered it. Joe South and Billy Joe Royal were under the same record label.

@murphicus Well, now you are partly mistaken. BJ Royal had the FIRST hit with "Hush". It was DP who later "covered" it.

@nachodaddy
You are correct. My focus was pointing out that South wrote the song.
