Susan Pepper and Allison Williams placed 2nd in Duet Singing.

Although many fiddler's conventions in the Southern Appalachians are much larger (think Galax), this is believed to be the oldest continuing fiddler's convention in the region. Now held in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee for the past 18 years at the Old Mill Music Park , this is formally called the "85th Annual Johnson County Old-Time Fiddlers Convention".

It was first held in 1925 at the Johnson County High School Auditorium (now Heritage Hall Performance Center) and has been held annually at various locations in and around Mountain City, Tennessee until moving eight miles north to Laurel Bloomery eighteen or so years ago.

  • @allisonwilliamsmusic Thanks to you for taking the time to comment. I recorded (almost) all the Saturday night competitions and have been in the process of carving out clips from the big files. I hope to have more up soon.

  • Technically the performance was near perfect. my only criticism is the live mix was off a bit. Allison with lower voice & typically lead voice being lower in harmony situations, was back from the mic. Susan with stronger voice was right up on the mic. what happened was the harmony part beautiful as it was, with Susan was now much higher in the mix than the lead voice what Allison was singing.so you'd hear Susan fishing around for the harmony a bit here & there because she could'nt hear Allison.

  • Very, very nicely done!

  • awesome song
