  • Excellent. I've been doing this same thing but I've used a dumbbell with plates on only one side. Pretty much the same thing, but instead of increasing the lever to increase resistance I add weights. I learned it from an armwrestler where I work.

Seems simpler with a sledgehammer though.

  • Play with sledgehammer near mirrors ???

  • I am a juggler that is also into powerlifting (andgeneral weightlifting), and I think these exercises will be a HUGE benefit to my juggling where wrist strength is sooo important

  • Nice job I love hammers too. Got a couple vids on my page as well. You should check out the steel bending website steelbendersdotorg the guys do sledge work and bending and grip stuf, its right up your alley.

  • Good work out. I actually use a damp mop holding it straight out and rotating my wrist almost as if blocking inner and outter gate movements. Really good for building strength in the arms and upper back muscles. Can always add bit more water for more weight..

  • This product looks cool, found it cruising the web for grip training. Google "gripups blog".

  • i think doing that would be rly handy for bench press as i loose alot of my lifting power in ym forarms

  • omg... you are fucking superhuman. :)

  • you know what this reminds me of? the scene from 36th Of Shaolin, where he had to ring a bell with a small weight on a long bamboo pole. The weight itself couldn't have been more than 8 pounds, but because of the length of the pole, the leverage made it really hard to do.

I thought that was just a goofy movie scene, but maybe it has a basis in reality?

  • u make it look so easy... but its not

  • I've learned for even better realistic training for forearm locks and holds to increase the diameter of the hammer or staff you are using.

Try to make it as large as an actual human arm... I use insulating pipe foam with duct tape...

It sorta gives it more of a forearm muscle feel - Great grip training either way...
