-Welcome to Portland Asiana!

Captured it's first cargo flight into PDX this morning (September 2nd). Arriving from Atlanta as OZ246 onto runway 28R at 8:09AM, about an hour later than scheduled. It's been such a long time since I've seen any 747 at PDX, which is the reason why I (and several others) woke up so early to capture this landing. It left about 2 hours later at 10:15 as OZ245 back to Incheon (again an hour late). Unfortunately I wasn't there to capture the takeoff.

  • at 0:34 what is the purpose of the bottom flaps? i know the ones that point up help slow down the plane but whats the deal with the bottom ones?

  • @rocknroller92 The "Bottom" flaps also helps the plane slow down by inducing drag. In fact, their effectiveness in creating drag is more than the spoilers (the ones pointing up). The spoiler's main purpose is to keep the plane on the ground while traveling at high speeds and increases the effectiveness of the brakes.

  • So did this plane pick up or drop off any cargo at PDX? or did it just land here to refuel the leave?

  • @rocknroller92 On later Asiana flights, I did see them loading/unloading cargo. But for this flight, I wasn't at the right angle to see what they were doing at the Cargo ramp.

  • Greetings fellow PDX videographer. Nice video! Wish I could have made it for the inaugural, but I didn't get off work until 3 in the morning.

  • @pdxaviationfan Thanks! Perhaps we'll see each other at PDX some day.
