I explain how to multiply decimals by whole numbers: think of your decimal as so many "tenths", "hundredths", or "thousandths", and simply multiply as if there was no decimal point. Compare to multiplying so many "apples". For example, 5 x 0.06 is five copies of six "hundredths". Multiply 5 x 6 = 30. The answer has to be 30 hundredths (hundredths corresponding to apples), or 0.30, which simplifies to 0.3.

  • Can you multiply whole numbers? First multiply 152 times 267 using the normal method for multiplication. Write them under each other.

Then once you get the answer to that, put a decimal point to it so it has four decimal digits.

  • I have a question: Everytime I multiply a whole number with 2 decimals behind times whole number with 2 decimals behind for example 1.52 times 2.67 I get 1.3224 instead of 4.0584 whats happening how do you do it correctly?

  • Thanks This Really Helped!

  • thank you sooo much you helped me out a lot

  • @DrAsTiiKLeAdz Multiply 30 x 9 = 270. Since 0.9 had tenths (one decimal digit), so does the answer. So the answer is 27.0
