Entry by Major DD Evans, OC Dean Close CCF:
"At Dean Close, the first Cadets joined the Junior Officers Training Corps in April 1909. Over the years it grew and changed shape culminating in the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force sections that make up the Contingent today. Many hundreds of the young people who have attended the School over the last 100 years have benefited directly from their time spent in the CCF and will have fond memories of the Contingent.

Wednesday 23rd September marked the Centenary of the Combined Cadet Force at Dean Close School and to celebrate, the School held a number of events throughout the day.

At 1500hrs eyes looked to the sky as the Parachutists of the RAF Falcons Display Team dropped from the low cloud base at 2500ft. The team spiralled and stacked with smoke canisters colouring the sky. The team finally landed in the middle of the 1st XV rugby pitch on Big Field."
