Jerry Billing practicing in Spitfire MK923 at his own grass strip. Jerry was known for his agressive low level acrobatic display in Spitfires from the late 60's thru mid 90's in North America

  • where was this filmed

  • Essex Ontario Canada, at Jerry's private grass strip.

  • No the motor was a Merlin 76 ( off of a mossi, port wing) with original carb setup. Jerry had it down to a art on how long he could keep it inverted before the motor quit. Once at Reno ( 81 ) in SL721 he made a inverted pass about 50ft anlong the crowd and had the motor quit, overprimed and shot flame 4 ft out the stacks, quit a character : )

  • christ lucky he didnt kill himself

  • luck has nothing to do with it, 52.5 years behind the controls does.

  • Only one more word:

    I M M O R T A L ! ! !

  • Jerry Billings displays are my favourite videos, he seems to be the only guy who can push the Spit to make it's melodic whistling.

  • Just listen to that Merlin at 1:27!!! Sounds like an angry beast!!! :)

  • That's my uncle :D

  • Perfect maneuvering, perfect everything... respect the effort he made!!!

  • Love the Merlin V12's sound. Mustang and Spitfire had similar engines, and were both Supercharged

  • respect man great mv
