Life in young soviet Estonia

Soviets "rescued" Estonia with bombs and communism.
They demolished Tallin with bombs but local people rebuilt the city.
Uninvited quests stayed for almost 50 years.
95 000 people from Baltic states were sent aginst their will to Siberia in animal wagons. Most of them never came back.
Parades and forced smile displaced food, goods and happiness. One good thing brain-wash and education were free!

Individs (small group partisans, ex farmers) who were taken away their home, fite back till the 70s! hiding in forest and sabotaged soviet imperium. As you can think small nation aginst empire.. Thanks to claer mind, we lived it ower and are still here!

That Estonian president decided to save hundreds of thousands people lifes in war when all Europe share was already decided with Molotov Ripendrop Pact, is not giving away anything. For example, we did fite in first wourld war, when it was possible, but if all around is occupyed would you rather die and let kill all your family too - I doubt that. Those banners show how people were forced on soviet ideology or they were sent to siberia or killed. What you would choose, life or death? Still here!

Sounds like one dissapointed soviet soldier who lives in some back oblast and cries back the old times, when he had money, but nothing to buy :) Speaking of scaredness, those are Russians who are actually scared for losing their power in world. Being alone have no courage so moving in groups and terrorise those alone. One terrorist (Stalin) wos so scared, that killed millions of his own people and others who would have been smart enought to bring him down.

Well don't get this nazis part quite exactly. Dont have more relations than any part of Europe. Just made up story by bored communists who miss soviet. We only protect our small nation. Arrogant and selfish are all nations small or big (french, englishes -all). Don't get this part also why should some red naber come if they have blenty of land themselves. Some kind of aberrancy or don't just have brains to do something usefull ecept kill and torture small nations to feel strong. Ain't that so..

the finnish tourists were quite um... often and they smuggeled in pieces to improve the soviet TV's, so people coud see the finnish channels, it was one of the things that helped us to get free

Estonia seems to be the only Baltic country that made any real economic progress after 1991. LV and LT are still behind (or equal to) Russia in terms of GDP. Estonia is a bit ahead, though... good job :)

I know the soviet baltics hated the soviets (as they should) however I found them to be anti-american and anti-soviet. I know the soviets POUNDED them with anti-american propaganda since they were a possible flight and dect risk since they hated the soviets. Is this why they dislike us or do we have some kind of history?

@fabienik Free choice? Well, Belarus made your choice and suffers economical and political retaliations. Same thing with Serbia in 90's and your choice was "awarded" with bombs and stealing of part of your territory. Illusion about having a choice is worst than the lack of choice. Ciao!

@Partisan84 Yes all Europe is controlled from Usa ..this is true. America won the war. But America have always leave free to make a free choice. Soviets were very different.... Estonia didn't exist during Soviet occupancy.Estonia wasn't in freedom. But Now Estonia, like Italia and all Europe, is a nation and it is free to choice. and surely Americans don't send Estonian in Siberia.!!!! @fabienik Different governements are irrelevant when economic control is the only important thing and political "freedom" is equal than nothing when it doesn't followed by economic freedom (a.k.a. self-determination and without outsider control)
