This is the FAA ATC recordings in the subject of US Air Flight 1549 that made an emergency water landing in the Hudson River after experiencing a catastrophic bird strike to both engines causing both engines to lose thrust.

Recording are complied from the following ATC Positions:

New York Tracon:
Departure, the aircraft went down while in this controllers airspace. The Terminal Radar Approach Control Facility or Tracon controls air craft as approach and depart airports before or after the Tower.

LaGuardia Clearance Delivery Position:
Flight Plan and IFR Clearance

LaGuardia Ground Position:
Controls aircraft on the ground on parking, ramps, and taxiways.

LaGuardia Local Control:
Tower, controls all runways, arriving and departing aircraft.

LaGuardia Class Bravo Airspace:
The area immediacy around the airport. Most of the traffic you hear in this recording are from sightseeing helicopters that had visual contact with flight 1549.

Cab Coordinator:
In this video it is the mostly at the end. Most communication was simultaneous with others which would make it confusing to edit in. The area of control responsibility (delegated airspace and/or airport surface areas) of the tower team, and the team as a whole.

  • @fiskarnorth It means to taxi using taxiway M and W.

  • Maybe I'm slow cause it's late, but can someone tell me what Mike Whiskey means. I know it's phonetic alphabet for MW. What does it mean?

  • @fiona3637 was stepped on or didn't have his mic engaged

  • @fiona3637 When the tower and aircraft are transmitting simultaniously, they can not hear eachother.

  • Curious; many transcripts have Captain Sullenberger saying, "Mayday, mayday, mayday, Cactus 1539, hit birds, lost thrust in both engines....etc."

But I have never actually heard on the audio him actually saying "Mayday" .........what is going on there....?

  • he deserves all that's coming to him... a true hero :)

  • Good luck Capt. Sully on your retirement.

  • @shadowcaster56 yeah they say 1539 also

  • lmao listen at 2:41 someone says "idiot"
