Cane Hill Asylum, Coulsdon, Surrey, was opened in 1882.

I have family connections in that my mother worked there for several years until July 1954, and my great-grandparents met there, when they were both on the staff. That would have been in the early 1890s, as they married in 1894.

I have to thank YouTube member class377matt for reminding me that demolition was under way at this site, which is patrolled by security. This video was filmed from a public footpath.

  • i have some good new to share. the water tower and chapel are listed bulidings and cant be demolished
