Noho Paipai - Traditional Hawai'ian Song

This is a nice little traditional Hawai'ian tune played on my latest uke, a beautiful GString Concert Koa Honu model I picked up 2 months ago. Its an amazing sounding uke, sorry about the recording quality. Just using a digital camera, so the sound is... less then optimal. But I like to record stuff. I got this song from Hawaiian Style Ukulele published by Uketree Records.

The songs title, Noho Paipai means "Rocking Chair Hula" (best I can tell) and is about 'a young man who longs to be reunited with his sweetheart.' There are words to it, but I can't sing.

I love this this song... man i just came from kono, hawaii and i heard this everywhere. i still can't get it out my head. they even play it at the hilo airport while i was leaving.

A beautiful uke you've got there! Sounds like it's got a wealth of volume too. (that volume might be distorting the sound. I'm playing a tenor at the moment, and I might have to use a telephoto lens to manage the sound level.)
