Sounds like it just isn't getting fuel. But, I can hear the fuel pump cycle when I turn the key and turn off the key. I pulled the spark plugs and I could smell fuel. Wonder if a fuel sensor failed somewhere? Maybe it's the fuel pump? The car has been hesitating at constant throttle at highway speeds for some time. FWIW, I already checked the battery, intake, and cleaned the air sensor. Same symptoms at ignition on.

  • Fixed... turned out to be the fuel rail pressure sensor. $20! Done!

  • I am getting spark. I took off each plug harness, stuck a screw driver in it and sparked it to ground under the hood when I would turn the ignition on. I pulled the fuel pump to check it. The filter / strainer was rather dirty. Plenty of fuel was in the lines when I disconnected the fuel pump though. I'm going to run some more diagnostics this weekend to determine if it's the fuel pump. The intake is clean. So I believe I am getting air, fuel, and spark. I also need to buy an OBDII scan tool.

  • Last Sunday morning, my wife and I just went to get in the car to go out and it simply exhibited the symptoms shown in the video. It has driven very well and has been very reliable for all 127,000 miles we've had it. As I noted in the description, the car would demonstrate some minor hesitation at constant throttle input while driving at highway speeds. But, not all the time.

  • Im having the same problem its igniting but not starting up. I have code reader which gave the code PO340 which is the camshaft sensor but when changed still the same. dealer is saying its "ECM". well find out but its hecka lame and is costing a arm n leg.

  • hey I cant find a part by that name? I am having the same problem. where is it located? please help.lol. its cold and hard to be working on cars on the side of the street.

  • That`s always great news when the problem ends up being less dollars than what is going on in your mind. Excellent it's only $20- I bet you must've thought all your x-mas came at once when you found out it was a very small problem. -daz in oz

  • Did you mean the fuel pressure regulator? I can't seem to find any info on a fuel pressure sensor.

  • @UFGatorGuy20 Cool. Glad it was a cheap fix.... more money for pyro!

  • it also, lastly, depends on how the problem occurred when you noticed it. Did it stall while idling? While driving? Did you come out to it 1 morning and it just didnt want to start? Or it did, then it died after? Give more information.

  • and like buddy said below me (once youve checked for spark and fuel on each plug) then its possible your timing belt/chain has fucked. This car runs off some sort of coil pack it looks like? no dizzy... anyhow, if you check all that, take a few minutes and pop the valve cover off (dont worry its around 6 bolts), buy a new gasket before you do, and then with the cover off, try turning over the motor. if the cams dont turn, or they dont turn 100% of the time, your belt/chain is broken somewhere.
